THE ROOTS: Beginner’s Level
Genoren (Born) Marcia Snedecor Making the shapes of the postures is a physical activity; understanding and implementing the finer details is necessary to develop complete involvement. Many details are given in the postures which gradually need to be introduced into practice.

The Beginner’s level is likened to the roots of the tree because it is the foundation from which all the rest will grow. As consciousness develops (the tree grows), branches emerge from the trunk of the tree.

We lay a firm foundation on the start of your yoga journey by putting strong emphasis and value for understanding the meaning of asana by developing awareness of the body’s movement and the subtle effects they have at the various levels of being. It is very useful as a preparatory practice as it opens up all the major joints and relaxes the muscles of the body which are necessary for the practice of intermediate and advanced asanas.

The beginner’s level asanas are for those who have never practiced yoga asanas before, and for those who are unable to perform the more difficult practices. This group of asanas is designed to prepare the body and mind for intermediate and meditation poses. These asanas are very useful in improving the physical health. Included in this level are the Eye exercises, Neck exercises, Leg exercises, Hand exercises, Relaxation, Meditation poses, Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), and Basic Asanas.
